Watch: Oak Grove SIPs Installation Timelapse

Watch the Timelapse of the Griffin Home SIPs panels install in just 3 days!

One of the features that allows Acre to streamline construction and maximize energy performance is the use of  SIPs (Structural Insulated Panels) for walls and roof.  Unlike traditional stick framing, SIPs provide a super-insulated building shell with no thermal breaks or air leaks.  SIPs arrive pre-engineered, with all door and window openings prepared, so you can have a dried-in structure in just 2 to 3 days.  On this particular home, we estimate that SIPs saved roughly 3 weeks.

Thanks to Fernando for putting this time-lapse together.  Unfortunately, day 3 was a little too cold and snowy for our Brazilian camera man, but we’ll be sharing more progress shots soon!

Very cool. Who builds the SIPs? Who built the structure?

Thanks for your interest, Brandon. The Acre team, led by Don, cut and assembled the timber frame from scratch. The SIPs shell is from EPS.

SIPS are from EPS out of Iowa and we built the timber frame with doug fir and some steel timber plates.
